DESCRIPTION

Belfort and Commonwealth Road Sewer separation project in Portland, Me. This is the latest in a long line of similar projects we have performed in Portland and surrounding communities. The intent is to separate the sewer flows from the storm drainage flows so they can be treated separately saving millions of dollars in the process. As with many of these projects the Portland Water District seized the opportunity to replace the aging water main at the same time. Likewise Unitil installed new gas main while the road was disturbed. This approach saves a money and minimizes the disruptions to the residents. Whenever possible we work through the winter to have these projects ready to pave in the Spring. That further minimizes the disruptions during the all too short Maine summers.
