Being involved in the community is important to the people of Gorham Sand & Gravel. It’s important to give. It strengthens the community. And we enjoy it.
Here are some organizations we’ve worked with over the years:

Buxton Toy Box
Every year Gorham Sand & Gravel employees, customers, and vendors bring unopened toys to our Christmas Party, which we then donate to the Buxton Toy Box. The Buxton Toy Box is a fixture in the community. Since 1995 it has centralized the charitable efforts of local groups providing Buxton families with assistance. Donated funds and gifts go directly to Buxton children without any aid from tax dollars. It’s all driven by volunteers. We’re proud to have made Christmas a little better for children in the Buxton community.

Southern Maine Community College
Over the years we’ve helped students get a feel for what the construction business is like. We support many vocational and trade programs throughout the state with our time, expertise, and equipment. Seen above are a group of SMCC students who operated our heavy equipment for a day under the supervision of their instructor and learned how to use the tools of our trade safely.

Reed Allen Fund
Recently, we’ve been involved with The Reed Allen Community Fund. The Foundation supports local individuals and businesses who have experienced difficult situations and are in need of assistance. It was started by Angelo Sotiropoulos owner of the Gorham House of Pizza. He experienced first hand, the generosity of the Gorham community after his business burned to the ground and then, learned he had cancer. Fortunately, Angelo has recovered both his health and his business. Now, he and a loyal group of volunteers raise money to help others in the Gorham community.

Camp Sunshine
Gorham Sand & Gravel has provided in-kind and donation dollars to Camp Sunshine located on the shores of Sebago Lake in Casco Maine. Founded in 1984, Camp Sunshine’s program is offered year-round and has the distinction of having been designed to serve the entire family in a retreat model. The program is free of charge to families and includes on-site medical and psychosocial support. Bereavement sessions are also offered for families who have experienced the death of a child from a supported illness.

Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Gorham Sand & Gravel regularly donates to Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Started in 2007, the organization provides confidential one-time emergency assistance to Windham residents – specifically, emergency heating fuel assistance to those who have no other available options. All to promote a culture of neighbors helping neighbors.
